Riverside (BNSF and UPRR) Quiet Zones
JMD provided planning and conceptual design services for two proposed quiet zones along the UPRR and BNSF railroad corridors in the City of Riverside. The scope of work included evaluating existing conditions at the 17 proposed crossings identified; coordination with the affected railroads and regulatory agencies; developing conceptual plans, calculations, cost estimates and timeframes for implementation of the quiet zones; preparation of the Notices of Intent (NOI) to establish the quiet zones and response to comments on the NOIs. The project involved conceptual engineering, final design and ultimate implementation of two quiet zones. Close and timely coordination with UPRR, BNSF, SCRRA and CPUC was critical to the success of the project.
