Durfee Avenue/UPRR (Los Angeles Subdivision) Feasibility Study Report
JMD recently completed a Feasibility Study Report (FSR) for the Durfee Avenue Grade Separation Project in the City of Pico Rivera. The study, partially intended to serve as an independent review of a prior concept study prepared for the ACE Construction Authority (ACE), included the assessment of four underpass alternatives designed to minimize impacts to adjacent properties. The FSR, which avoided a temporary shoofly, included roadway and track alignment design as well as geotechnical review, Advance Planning Study preparation, assessment of right of way impacts and conceptual cost estimates. Due to the fact that the project site is within an existing floodplain, groundwater measurements were conducted to confirm that existing groundwater is deep enough to avoid the need for dewatering and a boat section within the underpass footprint. Conceptual alternatives were discussed with UPRR staff to obtain feedback and conceptual concurrence.
